In 2014, an average of 20 veterans committed suicide each day.
Alicia and Alpha Bravo Canine are working to bring this average to zero.
Alpha Bravo Canine’s provides trained service dogs to U.S. military veterans suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other combat related disabilities. Alpha Bravo is the only organization dedicated to this mission in the Greater Philadelphia area, which is critical given the limited resources available to the veteran community in a region with 6.3 million residents.
Still skeptical? Check out this vid of dogs welcoming their veteran owners home and tell me you don’t feel the stress of your day melt away.
“For me personally, there are two very strong pulls towards Alpha Bravo and its mission.
First, as someone who has never known life without a dog by my side, I am intimately aware of how strong the human-canine bond is. I firmly believe that it can be leveraged to bring relief to those suffering from mental health affliction.
Further, as the older sister of a US Marine Corp rifleman, I’m passionate about giving to organizations which align with veteran’s causes. I’m especially drawn towards those that support the transition from military to civilian life as I fully expect my younger brother will benefit from the good work organizations like Alpha Bravo are contributing to our communities.”
Alicia has been involved with Alpha Bravo for over two years, and as a member of the Board of Directors and Community Outreach Director, Alicia’s responsible for forging relationships with other veteran-affiliated organizations in Greater Philadelphia. While networking, Alicia uses every opportunity to shed more light on the issues affecting our veteran community, and in turn, bring more resources to the mission.
“I am focused on finding mission-aligned partners and sponsors, looking for strategic connections around every corner I can!”
You can find Alicia and Alpha Bravo at the Philly Memorial Monuments Run this Memorial Day Weekend. If you’re in the area, stop by Yard’s Brewery on 5th & Spring Garden on Sunday, May 27 from 11-4 to support our troops. They will have gear for sale and some exciting raffles. All proceeds will go directly to their new class of puppy recruits.
Alicia – thank you for using your networking opportunities to better our communities and spread the love from vet to pet.
